In his recent interview with Ben Grossman for Broadcasting & Cable , 5th Jan 2009, Joel McHale admitted that he wanted to be a Movie Star and he took the job of host of The Soup since he saw Greg Kinnear (who was a previous Talk Soup host) talk on movies.
He said “I came here [Los Angeles] to do movies, and that’s what I’m starting to do”, referring to the upcoming film he is in called The Informant with Matt Damon and Scott Bakula.
Later when asked whether he would be interested in hosting his own late night talk show like Letterman or Kimmel he responded, “If a show was available, yeah, I’d like to throw my hat in … But it’s not even worth thinking about because there are so few jobs and there’s no real audition process.”
