You hear them both say some funny stuff about the other one, but does Joel McHale and Ryan Seacrest really get along off camera?
While neither of them have confirmed or denied their friendship or lack thereof, it is probably likely that they really do get along. Both Joel’s jokes about Ryan on The Soup and in his comedy stand-up shows suggest a good natured ribbing that you’d expect between rivals that actually like and respect each other.
And of course they both work for the same network – E! – and so it would be unlikely that the network executives would let the ribbing continue if there really was a feud.
Personally I think that McHale has a tiny bit of envy for Seacrest’s popularity and success and wouldn’t mind a bit of that himself, which he may just get in the future the way his acting career seems to be taking off.
Besides could we really look at Joel seriously if he said something genuine about Ryan? I’m not so sure.
So my educated guess is that while they may not be best buds who have sleep-overs and braid each other’s hair, they actually so get along and joke around together.
Now if you really want to know who Joel McHale dislikes (and vice versa) then look at none other than Tyra Banks who has repeatedly tried to stop clips of her show being aired on The Soup. Certainly you wouldn’t want to see these two in the same room (or maybe we would – it’d be hilarious).
Which brings me to a new drinking game that I’ve created called the
Joel McHale Drinking Game
Here are the rules.
1. Watch The Soup
2. If Joel makes a joke or remark about Ryan Seacrest – everyone takes a sip
3. if there is a clip of Tyra – first one to stand up and say “Me†while pointing to yourself gets to nominate someone else in the room to take a sip
4. If Mankini comes on – first one to rub their nipples gets to nominate someone else in the room to take a sip
5. If Matt the Intern comes on – point at the screen to shoot him and then nominate someone else in the room to take a sip.
6. If Joel kissed Spaghetti Cat – everyone must take two sips.
7. Person who has the most drink left in their glass at the end of the show – wins.

Thanks! I’ll fire up the ol’ DVR and we’ll play a round tonight!
